In Week 1, you mastered the twin thresholds of Decision and Acceptance. Now, you stand at the base of the next major mountain of your lifestyle turnaround and you face the heavy question that stops most people in their tracks: “What do I actually want?”

Later in this post I'll talk about starting with your wants and focusing on the stuff, but there's a much deeper level of personal want. Bob Proctor, my distant mentor says it like this...

This is the essence of time and money freedom, surrounded by positive and uplifting people. It's possibly the biggest single human goal we have in common.

Most people struggle to answer this question with honesty because their minds are running on old, unexamined survival code. To break free from the automated loop of your defaults, you must learn to identify the psychological gulf between a lazy conscious wish and a sovereign soul-level desire.

Anatomy of a True Desire vs The Lazy Wish

A lazy conscious wish is born out of standard pessimism. It's a shallow target based entirely on what you think you can achieve within the tiny boundaries of your current, limited beliefs. It feels safe because it doesn’t challenge your comfort zone.

A soul-level passion requires you to completely surrender your old limitations, rules and restrictions about what's possible. It demands that you put what you truly want onto the table as if all limits were permanently removed.

  • Comfort Zone Compromise:

    • Why are people so terrified to admit what they actually want out of this life? It comes down to historical evidence.

    • If you've succeeded in the past, your subconscious tells you that you have already peaked and your best moments are behind you. If you've continually fallen short, your mind holds onto a mountain of past evidence to prove you're bound to fail again.

    • Instead of intentionally reframing your potential peak, you choose a compromised goal. You settle for a safe target somewhere in the middle because it guarantees you will never face disappointment. You end up somewhat satisfied, but entirely unfulfilled.

Motivation vs Inspiration: Short-Term Battery vs Your Main Grid

To build a lifestyle masterpiece, you must stop relying on Motivation. Motivation is nothing more than a conscious, short-term battery of energy. It experiences a brief peak, immediately begins its decline, and eventually drops you straight back into your default loop.

Short-term motivation only gives you enough fuel to take one single step in the right direction. Inspiration, on the other hand, is the state of being actively driven by your authentic wants, passions, and desires. When you're inspired, you're no longer relying on a volatile battery; you're permanently plugged into the main power source.

There's energy inside of you waiting to be released - your wants, passions, and desires will unlock it.
THE MOTIVATION LOOP ──> Battery Peaks ──> Energy Declines ──> Fragile Halt (Relapse)

THE INSPIRATION GRID ──> Connected to Desires ──> Infinite Flow ──> Mental Agility (Mastery)
  • Problem with Creativity Loops:

    • Motivation might hand you a great initial idea, but it fundamentally lacks the persistence, and deep faith required to carry it out when things get tough, when your plans don't work out, or when the process takes longer than you scheduled.

    • Motivation will run you straight to the edge of a hurdle, but by the time you arrive, your battery is dead. You're left mentally fragile instead of agile. You hit the hurdle, fall over, or stumble. Many will grind to a complete halt and refuse to ever attempt the jump again out of a deep fear of looking stupid - This is the Fear of Failure and Humility.

  • Mental Agility of Inspiration:

    • Inspiration doesn't magically remove the hurdles from your path, but it grants you the immense mental agility required to leap straight over them.

    • Think of it like physical agility. It's the raw power that allows an elite athlete to side-step a heavy tackle, slip a punch, or execute an awkward shot under intense pressure. Inspiration gives you the mental resilience to adapt and stay in the creativity loop, completely bypassing the fear of failure.

Overwriting the Source Code: Rewriting Your Automation

Your current default loop is built on old code rooted in your past conditioning. If that conditioning is packed with evidence of past failures, your subconscious mind decides that the most reasonable, safe thing to do today is absolutely nothing. It locks you in your comfort zone to shield you from the pain of humility and failure.

To break this spin, you must understand how authentic desires physically alter your internal biology:

  • Reprogramming Blueprint:

    • An authentic desire is formed in your conscious mind first. By introducing relentless repetition, deep imagination, visual projection, and structured planning, your mind begins to slowly overwrite its foundational source code.

    • Through this repetition, your conscious intent, and your subconscious programming are forced to match.

  • Subconscious Automation Benefit:

    • Once your source code is updated, your progress becomes automated. You can afford to have a bad conscious day where you feel unenergized, tired, or distracted, because your subconscious programming will still automate your physical actions to keep you moving forward.

    • True desire enters the human mind as an emotional spark, transforming into a sustainable feeling that carries you through the daily task.

Chemical Reward of Purpose

Desire leads directly to clarity, and clarity unlocks absolute focus. Armed with a clear vision of your ambition, alongside a plan filled with strategic goals and milestones, you unlock the highest human faculty: The Will.

The faculty of will provides the mental, emotional, and physical energy required to persevere through exhaustion and remain locked into your 'creativity loop' in a way a temporary battery of motivation could never achieve.

  • Neurological Harvest:

    • Every single time you achieve a marker or milestone you intentionally set for yourself, your brain delivers a profound physiological reward.

    • Your system is flooded with feel-good chemicals - dopamine and serotonin that make you feel intensely proud of your accomplishments.

    • You're no longer drifting by accident. You wake up with clear eyes and an aligned mind, secure in the unshakeable awareness that you're standing one step closer to your ultimate definite purpose.

It's all about energy - discover your wants, passions & desires then you'll release the energy of inspiration.

Practical Blueprint: How to Extract Your Core Beliefs?

When you start a transformation journey, or simply want to change your life, you must always start with the stuff - your wants. This initial process will identify what physical things you really want in your life, giving you an instant burst of motivation and a short-term, feel-good mental reward.

Once your list of 'stuff' is written down, you must transition into Passion Analysis by running each item through a strict internal diagnostic filter:

  • Step 1: Passion Audit

    • Look at every physical thing you've listed and ask yourself honestly: "Am I genuinely passionate about this specific thing?"

    • Your ultimate goal is to discover your purpose, not simply to gather more material items. What you'll find is that most of the superficial 'stuff' fails to connect with true passion. When that happens, temporarily move it to the side.

  • Step 2: 'Light-Bulb' Filter

    • Within this audit, one specific thing will stand out and create an intense, passionate emotional response from within. This is your light-bulb moment of "Oh yeah, that's it"

    • Explore why you feel that sensation. This is a deep, physical feeling. More often than not, it will immediately trigger a rush of deeper thoughts.

  • Step 3: Interrogation of 'Why'

    • To complete this discovery process, ask yourself: "Why is this specific thing important to me?"

    • If your internal answer is, "Well, it isn't really," cross it off, and move onto the next item. But when you ask why it's important and you get a powerful, authentic response from within your stomach, make a note of it - quite literally on paper. This is a massive milestone.

  • Step 4: Digging to the Subconscious Baseline

    • Take that written answer and ask: "Why is that 'why' important?" Keep drilling down, asking 'Why' after every answer until you reach the most basic, fundamental statement, or phrase you can possibly give yourself.

    • Congratulations - you have just bypassed your conditioning and identified one of your core beliefs about living with purpose and life itself.

  • Step 5: Hold the Vision

    • Now, enjoy the moment. Explore this newly discovered coordinate using your imagination.

    • Visualise yourself with this reality in your life by focusing your mind not just on the physical object or stuff, but on the raw emotions, feelings, and thoughts that come with it.

(Note: For a deep-dive mechanical breakdown on how to lock this mental state in permanently, you will need to remain patient for my upcoming Imagination & Visualisation Explained Blog).

Now you know how to find your true passions! To develop the 5 step process further, you then ask yourself:

  • What do I want in regards to experiences? Where do I want to go?

  • How do I want to feel? What emotions do I want to run through me?

  • What do I want for my physical health and vitality? How much energy do I want in my physical self, what do I want my body to look like and what will this feel like?

  • What does my soul yearn for? Is there something I want regarding a legacy - an ultimate story to tell my grand children and become a legend of history?
